Oakbrook was founded two years ago and both years has sent a team of young people and adults to Vicosa, Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil.
Igreja Presbyteriana Vicosa is a thriving church that has taken Jesus' directive to help the poor to heart, providing essential day care for the children of working parents.
Over 350 children arrive at one of three sites each day where they are fed a meal and a snack, helped with homework, taught and guided in hygiene and told of God's love for them. Additionally, this outreach bridges to many other aspects of need for families, all with the enthusiastic support of the civil authorities.
Our missions have had a tremendous impact on Rebusca's children, workers and the Vicosa community. The Team's day is divided into day care and a work project such as painting one of the facilities. We provide the funding for the necessary supplies and do the work with some of the available teens of the church.
Brazil Team 2010 is forming for a June mission.
