Oakbrook is a non-denominational Christian church with a vision “To create and grow disciples of Christ who make disciples”. This is achieved by deliberately and purposefully moving people from where they are to Christ-likeness. Our vision is supported by the purposes of Oakbrook Church…
Love God with all your heart
Proclaimed by Jesus to be “the greatest commandment” (Matthew 22:37), Loving God with all our heart means that we personally experience His love for us, and show our love for God by worshiping Him and being obedient to His will.
Grow to be more like Christ
Growing in Christ-likeness is how we model Christ to others. Just as Christ himself grew in knowledge (Luke 2:52) we are expected to grow as well. While we are never going to attain perfection, we are commanded to “press on” to the goal of becoming like Christ. (Phillipians 3:12-14)
Serve your community & world
Each one of us has received a gift that we are called to use in service toward one another (1 Peter4:10). By serving others in love, we are fulfilling what Jesus referred to as the second greatest commandment to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39)
Go make disciples
The “great commission”(Matthew 28:19) is a calling to all who profess faith in Jesus Christ — to “go and make disciples of all nations” — whether you are a new believer or have been blessed with many years as a child of God. And as a church, it must be a part of our DNA and our purpose for existing.
